Meet Tom
Hi, I'm Tom - my real name is Dat, and I borrowed 'Tom' from Tom Hagen in The Godfather. I'm a professional affiliate marketer and a former Google Ads specialist who has spent years helping businesses grow.
My team and I have worked closely with dozens of companies on their operations, pricing, and the tools they run on. We've seen first-hand how the right software saves a small business real time and money - and how the wrong choice quietly drains both.
SMBToolbox is where I put that experience to work: reviewing business and freelance tools with honest scores and real trade-offs, so founders and freelancers can choose with confidence.
How we review
Each app is scored on its plans, pricing, features, and documentation, weighed against what real users report. We rate 1 to 5 on ease of use, features, value for money, and support, and the overall score is the average of those four on a 10-point scale. Above 9.0 is outstanding, 8.5 and up is excellent, and we publish the mediocre scores too.
Our independence
